I qualified and registered as a pharmacist in 1997, and over the past three decades I have built a diverse career across secondary care, primary care, commissioning, and European wholesale and service development.

Most of my career has been spent in Dorset, where I worked at Dorset County Hospital for 13 years, progressing to the role of Deputy Chief Pharmacist. This provided me with extensive leadership, operational, and clinical experience.

In 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I made the move into Primary Care. Since then, I have continued to develop my clinical expertise in a patient-facing role, working directly with patients to optimise their medicines and improve health outcomes. Being able to combine advanced clinical practice with personalised patient care has made this the most rewarding stage of my career.

I love swimming! When not at work you will find me swimming our beautiful coastline and open water swimming spots, such as Dartmoor. I’m proud to share that I successfully swam the English Channel in 2026 as part of a relay team and quite wait to find my next challenge.

By working collaboratively with our GP Practices we can deliver safe, innovative, and person-centred care that truly meets the needs of our local population and improves the health and wellbeing of our communities.

I have worked for Mid-Dorset PCN for 2 years and 3 months as a Remote Pharmacy Technician.

 My previous experience was Hospital Pharmacy for 11 years where I worked Primarily as a Checking Technician and managed the team.

 Community Pharmacy before that for 17 years where I undertook many roles from Dispenser, Technician, ACT, Supervisor, Manager, Cluster manager and area trainer.

 Developed newly opened 100 hour pharmacy into a successful business

Area trainer for new Pharmacy computer system

 Skills – Communication, team work, working alone and managing time, coaching, using professional judgement, working under pressure, building new relationships and continuing to grow and develop those. Team management including areas of HR.

I enjoy CVD work and speaking with Patient’s regarding the risk and ways to reduce including lipid management, diet and lifestyle advice.

I enjoy days out and holidays with my family.

Going to the gym and days out walking.

I would love to have booked clinics to speak to patients in whatever areas are needed. Individually or within groups.

Continue to develop the Pharmacy team and show the skills we bring to the surgeries and ways we can support.

Complete PCPEP. Continue to build my relationship with my surgeries and help them to provide even better patient care!

I have 4 years’ experience in GP practice, keep in mind that I have had 10 months off, 12 years pharmacy experience altogether, 8 of those being community.

I am a qualified checking technician.

Particular interest or cause related to your work

I have a sister who is also in pharmacy, she is currently a dispenser, I did enjoy the dispensing side when working in community and now I enjoy doing the documents/monitoring etc for GPs.

When not working, personal hobby or interests. (pets!)

I have no pets of my own yet but I do love most animals, I would love to work in an animal shelter or for the RSPCA but I also find that it would be quiet upsetting at times and that puts me off. I have however had several dogs as pets growing up but was never allowed cats unfortunately. I usually spend my spare time visiting family or going on walks. I also enjoy going to the cinema, going for meals, nights out with boyfriend and friends. I enjoy holidays as well and I enjoy baking/cooking.

I am happy where I am in my career for now, possibly in the future be a more experienced technician.

Programme Lead for T2DR – great opportunity started it across Dorset. Got to meet patients who achieved great results.

Swimming, strength training, walking and belly dancing, movies and dramas, family time, looking after my cats, embroidery, reading and following Formula one

To be more involved in project work within the pharmacy team but more widely across the PCN.
